Your beauty is all that can save you, Ravenna! This spell will make your beauty your power and protection. By fairest blood it is done. But be warned, by fairest blood this spell can be undone.
— The sorceress to Ravenna

The Unnamed sorceress (real name unknown) was the mother of Finn, Ravenna and Freya. She appears in a flashback in Snow White and the Huntsman. She was portrayed by Anastasia Hille.

History Edit

The sorceress had apparently inherited her magical abilities from her mother, due to Ravenna's statement to Freya that all the women "of our blood" have magic. The sorceress lived in a small village with her three children; her husband or partner was never shown or mentioned in any of the films.

At some point during her life, a group of soldiers invaded their home, resulting in the sorceress being separated from her children. Before their abduction, she had Ravenna drink from a glass of milk imbued with three drops of her blood, casting a spell on her that would keep her young and beautiful, telling her that "only your beauty can save you". Her mother told her that by fairest blood it was done and by fairest blood can it be undone. The spell transformed Ravenna into a divinely beautiful young woman, and since then has inspired Ravenna to remain young and beautiful forever. Shortly after, the sorceress was forcibly separated from her children by the soldiers. Although it is not explicitly stated, it is heavily implied she was killed in this raid, as Ravenna later says her mother died when she was young.

Snow White and the Huntsman Edit

The sorceress briefly appears in a flashback, when her daughter Ravenna recalls the spell her mother put on her to preserve her beauty and the warning that "by fairest blood" it could be undone. She also remembers being separated from her mother moments later. Ravenna also tells Snow White earlier in the film, as she is preparing for her wedding to King Magnus, that "I too lost my mother when I was young."

The Huntsman: Winter's War Edit

The sorceress is mentioned indirectly by her daughters, when Ravenna assures Freya she will someday become a powerful sorceress just like her, as all the women in their family have the innate ability to use magic. Freya gives birth to a daughter, the sorceress' first and only known grandchild, but unfortunately, Ravenna kills the child out of fear she will become more beautiful than her and defeat her, due to her mother's warning.
